  • Hyundai Sonata (2015)

Certain vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 – Lighting  System and Retroreflective Devices. The headlamp bulb type markings do not comply with the requirements of the standard.

Correction: A manufacturing change has been undertaken to prevent this non-compliance condition from continuing. No corrective recall action is required as the non-compliance condition is deemed to be non-safety related. Recall Details

  • BMW 1 Series (2013, 2014)
  • BMW 3 Series (2011)
  • BMW 5 Series (2011)
  • BMW Z4 (2011)

On certain vehicles, the rivet connections for the constant velocity (CV) joint of the rear driveshaft may have insufficient durability. Over time, this could cause the CV joint to break, resulting in a loss of propulsion which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage.

Correction: Dealers will replace the CV joint. Note: This recall supersedes recall 2017-049. Recall Details

  • Porsche Macan (2017)

  • Porsche Macan  S (2015)
  • Porsche Macan  Turbo (2016, 2017)

On certain vehicles, fine hairline cracks could appear after an extended period of use on the filter flange of the fuel pump. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could cause a fire, increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel filter flange if cracks are found. If no cracks are found, a film will be affixed to the filter flange to protect it. Recall Details

  • Ford Explorer, Police Interceptor Utility (Explorer)  (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017)

On certain vehicles operated in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, soil properties unique to these areas could cause an accumulation of soil to occur at the attachment point of the rear suspension toe link. This could impede the toe link’s travel, causing bending stresses and potential fracture. A fractured toe link would affect vehicle handling and could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will replace the toe links with revised parts. Recall Details

  • Ram (Chrysler) Promaster (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017)

Certain vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 208 – Occupant Protection in Frontal Impacts. The sunvisor airbag warning label, User Guides and Owner’s Information DVDs incorrectly identify the vehicle’s passenger and driver frontal airbag systems as “Advanced Airbags”. In the event that occupants rely on the Owner’s Information or User Guide, they may position themselves closer to the airbag than they would if compliant information regarding the airbag system had been provided, which may increase the risk of injury to a front seat occupant in a crash where frontal airbag deployment is warranted.

Correction: FCA Canada will provide vehicle owners with a supplement to the Owner’s Information DVD and User Guide to reflect the use of non-advanced airbags. Additionally, FCA Canada will also provide a replacement sunvisor airbag warning label to identify airbags as non-advanced. Recall Details

  • Nissan Versa Note (2017)

On certain vehicles, the ring plate that secures the frontal passenger airbag cushion to the assembly housing may not have sufficient yield strength due to a manufacturing defect. This could cause the airbag cushion to separate from the ring plate when the airbag is deployed which could increase the risk of injury. \

Correction: Dealers will replace the front passenger side airbag module. Recall Details

  • Audi A3 (2015)

On certain vehicles, the certification label may have an incorrect vehicle production date printed on it, contrary to the requirements of the standard.

Correction: Dealers will install an overlay label containing the correct information. Recall Details

  • Toyota Tacoma (2016, 2017)

On certain vehicles, the seal between the rear differential and the axle housing could degrade due to contact variation. This could result in leaking differential oil. If the vehicle is operated in this condition, damage to the differential could occur, and could potentially result in noise, reduced motive power and rear axle lockup. These issues could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will inspect the rear differential for leaks. If no leaks are found, fastening nuts will be re-tightened. If leaks are found, the differential gasket will be replaced, and new differential fastening nuts installed. Note: This applies to vehicles equipped with automatic transmission and non-locking differentials only. Recall Details

  • Jaguar F-Pace, XE & XF (2017, 2018)

On certain vehicles equipped with a 2.0L diesel engine, the fuel return hose could leak. This could cause the fuel to leak onto the road surface which can present a skid hazard to other road users increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could also cause a fire. Correction: Dealers will replace the fuel return hose.

Correction: Dealers will replace the fuel return hose. Recall Details

  • Ford F150 (2011)

On certain vehicles equipped with 3.5L V6 GTDI EcoBoost engines, the electric vacuum pump (EVP) may fail due to moisture entry through the engine vacuum harness. Failure of the EVP may result in reduced brake assist immediately after the first start up, and depending on the driver’s reaction, may result in extended stopping distance which may increase the potential for a low-speed collision causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will replace the EVP and vacuum harness. Recall Details

  • Mercedez Benz SLC-Class, SLK-Class (2016, 2017)

Certain vehicles may have incorrect Electronic Stability Program (ESP) software installed. In the event a driver assist system (e.g. adaptive cruise control) initiates automatic braking and aborts again during the early stage of brake pressure increase, a low residual pressure could remain in the hydraulic brake system. As a result, the braking system could continue applying minimal pressure with the brake pad contacting the rotor, and may heat up when driving is continued. Constant brake pad application over longer periods of driving could lead to the brake fluid heating in the brake caliper, resulting in higher pressure in the brake system. This could reduce brake performance, and increase the risk of a fire causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will update the software for the ESP. Recall Details

  • Dodge Sprinter (2007, 2008, 2009)

On certain vehicles, the dimensions of some components in certain door latch mechanisms may be out of specification and may not securely latch in high-temperature conditions. If this occurs and a door mechanism does not securely latch, the door could inadvertently open while the vehicle is in motion, which could increase the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant seated next to the door, or result in damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will replace the affected door latches with countermeasure units. Recall Details

  • Merceded-Benz C Class, GLK Class (2013)

On certain vehicles, the steering coupling bolt connection may have been incorrectly torqued. The vibrations during vehicle operation could allow the nut to loosen and come off the retaining bolt. This could lead to a separation of the steering coupling from the steering shaft causing the vehicle to lose the ability to steer which would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will inspect and torque the steering coupling bolt as necessary. Recall Details

  • Chevrolet Spark (2016, 2017)

Certain vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 208 – Occupant Protection in Frontal Impacts. During testing using unbelted, out-of-position 3-year-old and 6-year-old test dummies in the front passenger seating position, the dummies were subjected to axial neck force greater than permitted by the standard. Although it is unsafe and inadvisable for a child occupant to ride unsecured in the front passenger seat, a child in that position at the time of a crash necessitating airbag deployment may be subject to an increased risk of injury.

Correction: Dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag module with a low-risk deployment airbag module that has an added folded-in flap. Recall Details

  • RAM 1500, 2500 (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016)
  • RAM 3500 (2014, 2015, 2016)

On certain vehicles equipped with Occupant Restraint Controllers (“ORC”) with roll rate sensing, under certain external conditions, a fault may be set relating to rollover sensing that will illuminate the airbag warning light and disable rollover sensing until the vehicle is restarted. A loss of airbags and seatbelt pretensioner deployment when warranted during a rollover crash may increase the risk of injury to vehicle occupants.

Correction: Dealers will reprogram the ORC. Recall Details

  • Jeep Compass (2017)

On certain vehicles equipped with a 6-speed Aisin transmission, the left front halfshaft may disengage from the transmission and/or break. If this occurs, the vehicle would lose motive power and the park function, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will inspect the left front halfshaft for proper engagement in the transmission and replace the left front halfshaft if it is not properly engaged. Recall Details

  • Volkswagen Passat (2012, 2013, 2014)

On certain vehicles, an underbody heat shield may not be long enough to protect the right drive half-shaft grease boot from heat. Over time, this could lead to a grease leak from the boot. If leaking grease comes into contact with heated surfaces of the exhaust system and/or diesel particulate filter (DPF), it could lead to a fire potentially causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will install a revised heat shield and certain vehicles will have the upper boost hose replaced. Recall Details

  • BMW 7 Series (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008)

On certain vehicles equipped with the Comfort Access or Comfort Access in combination with the Soft Close Automatic door latching system options, the doors may not latch correctly. As a result, doors which appear to be latched could unlatch while driving. This could increase the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant seated next to the door, or result in damage to property.

Correction: To be determined. Recall Details

  • BMW 6 Series, X5, X6 (2017)

Certain M-Series vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 110 – Tire Selection and Rims. For some X5 M and X6 M vehicles, the tire and loading information label incorrectly states the vehicles were equipped with 20-inch tires, however the vehicles are equipped with 21-inch tires. For some M6 Cabriolet and M6 Coupe vehicles, the tire and loading information label incorrectly states the vehicles were equipped with 19-inch tires, however, the vehicle is equipped with 20-inch tires. Additionally, the label for the M6 Cabriolet and M6 Coupe vehicles incorrectly displays a value of 32psi (220 kPa), although it should display a value of 35psi (240kPa). Correction: Dealers will replace the Tire and Loading label.

Correction: Dealers will replace the Tire and Loading label. Recall Details

  • Ford Fiesta (2011)

In certain vehicles registered and operated in areas where road salt is used on the roadways during winter months for extended time periods (Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland-Labrador), moisture containing road salt could enter the battery junction box and cause corrosion of the fuse and wiring terminals. This could result in a loss of electrical connectivity in some circuits related to the powertrain, potentially causing the vehicle to stall without the ability to restart. This could also affect the exterior lighting, which would decrease vehicle conspicuity. These conditions could increase the risk of crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will inspect, clean any corrosion off the terminals and replace any defective fuses. Seals will also be installed in the battery junction box to prevent future moisture entry. Recall Details

  • Mercedes-Benz G Class (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016)

On certain vehicles, the front passenger airbag could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment due to a potential airflow impairment in the inflator module. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant.

Correction: Dealers will replace the front passenger airbag inflator. Recall Details

  • Ford F150, F550 Chassis Cab (2017)

Certain vehicles equipped with a manual-recline driver seat may fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 202 – Head Restraints and CMVSS 207 – Anchorage of Seats. Due to a manufacturing error, the recliner mechanism may have been incorrectly welded to the seat-back frame, which would result in the seat failing to meet the requirements of the standards. This could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant in the event of a crash.

Correction: Dealers will inspect the front driver seat back frame build date and replace as necessary. Recall Details

  • Ford F150, F250, F350, F450, F550 Chassis Cab, F550, F650 Chassis Cab, F650 (2017)

Certain decorative chrome door handle covers, sold as aftermarket accessories through Ford dealers, may affect compliance to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 206 – Door Lock and Door Retention Components. These accessories may cause the door handles to fail to conform to the inertial load requirements of the standard. A door handle fitted with a chrome cover could unlatch due to inertial loads during a side impact crash if the door were unlocked, which would increase the risk of injury.

Correction: Covers will be removed from vehicles and owners will be reimbursed for parts and labour. Recall Details

  • Jaguar F-Type (2018)

Certain vehicles may fail to conform to the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 108 – Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. In the event of a front turn signal indicator lamp Light Emitting Diode (LED) failure or failure of the headlamp module which affects operation of the front turn signal indicator lamps, the required warning needed to comply with the standard is not provided. As a result, drivers may be unaware that they would not be able to clearly signal their intentions to turn and/or change lanes, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will upgrade vehicle software to correct the issue.

Correction: Dealers will upgrade vehicle software to correct the issue. Recall Details

  • Jaguar XJ (2016, 2017)

Certain vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations. The certification label may not contain the required National Safety Mark nor a statement of conformity, which is contrary to the requirements of the regulations.
