The Passenger Vehicle Recalls for July 2017, are as Follows

  • Ford Edge (2017)
  • Ford Fusion (2017)
  • Lincoln MKZ (2017)

On certain vehicles equipped with the 2.0l engine coupled to a 6 speed automatic transmission, the torque converter could separate from the engine flex plate due to inadequate welds on the attachment studs. If this occurs, this would result in a sudden loss of motive power, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will replace the torque converter. Recall Details

  • Dodge Journey (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015)

On certain vehicles, an electrical short could occur in the steering wheel wiring harness, which could result in an inadvertent deployment of the driver frontal airbag. Unintended airbag deployment, in a non-warranted (non-impact) situation, could startle the driver, which could result in a vehicle crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. In some instances, inadvertent deployment could cause minor injuries to vehicle occupants.

Correction: Dealers will inspect the steering wheel wiring and replace it as necessary. A protective covering will also be installed on the wiring harness. Recall Details

  • Dodge Ram (2017)

Certain vehicles may have been assembled with a broken fuel tank control valve. In a roll over situation, a broken fuel tank control valve could cause a fuel leak which, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire which would increase the risk of injury.

Correction: Dealers will replace the fuel tank. Recall Details

  • Jeep Compass  (2017)

Certain vehicles may have User’s Guides containing incorrect information regarding jump start procedures. The battery jumping section in the affected User’s Guide depicts the battery terminals with reversed polarity in the battery terminal graphic. If a person were to follow the procedure listed within the User’s Guide for jump starting, the risk of a possible electrical hazard injury would be increased due to the incorrect terminal polarity graphic.

Correction: Dealers will replace the User’s Guide with the a corrected version. Recall Details

  • Dodge Challenger (2017)

Certain vehicles equipped with a 5.7L V8 engine and a 8HP70 automatic transmission may not maintain a mechanical PARK when the shift lever is moved in the PARK position and the engine is left running. If the operator exits the vehicle in this condition, the vehicle could roll away, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will re-flash the Transmission Control Module (TCM) with an updated software. Recall Details

  • Cadillac Escalade (2015, 2016)
  • Chevrolet Corvette (2015)
  • Chevrolet Silverado (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017)
  • Chevrolet tahoe (2015, 2016)
  • Chevrolet Trax (2015)
  • GMC Sierra (2014, 2015, 2016)
  • GMC Yukon, Yukon XL (2015)

On certain vehicles, the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM), which controls airbag and pretensioner deployment, contains a software defect which may prevent the deployment of frontal airbags and pretensioners in certain circumstances. Failure of frontal airbags and seatbelt pretensioners to deploy in a crash (when warranted) could increase the risk of injury.

Correction: Dealers will reflash the SDM with new software. In vehicles with any previous deployment events recorded in the SDM, the dealers will replace the existing SDM with a new SDM containing the latest software. Recall Details

  • Chrysler 300 (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014)
  • Dodge Challenger, Charger, Durango (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014)
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee (2012, 2013, 2014)

On certain vehicles equipped with electro-hydraulic power steering (“EHPS”), the alternator may fail suddenly. This could result in the engine stalling, causing a loss of motive power which could increase the risk of a crash as well as disable various vehicle safety systems, and could also cause a fire. Both issues could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will inspect the part number on the alternator, and will replace the alternator as necessary. Note: Only specific engine and alternator combinations are affected by this campaign. Recall Details

  • Honda CR-V (2017)

On certain vehicles, the fuel feed pipe may not have been properly manufactured. Upon the fuel lines being pressurized, the connection between the feed pipe and fuel hose could separate, resulting in a fuel leak which could cause an engine stall. Additionally, a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will replace the fuel feed pipe and associated single use retainers. Recall Details

  • Mercedes ForTwo (2017)

On certain vehicles, the left front axle steering knuckle may have some casting imperfections that could reduce the strength of the knuckle. This could potentially cause the left front steering knuckle to fracture under load, which would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will inspect the front left steering knuckle for the affected batch number and replace it as necessary. Recall Details

  • Mercedes ForTwo (2016)

On certain vehicles, the lock nut that secures the bowden cable to the parking brake lever might loosen over time, which may result in increased parking brake lever travel. Should the parking brake lever travel increase, the the parking brake could have less holding force than intended, which could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will replace the lock nut. Recall Details

  • Nissan Versa (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012)

On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the driver frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury.

Correction: Dealers will replace the driver frontal airbag inflator. Note: Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. The recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk, and is expected to replace airbag inflators before their function would be affected. Additional Note: This campaign affects 2007-2012 Versa hatchback models and 2007-2011 Versa sedan models. The 2012 model year Nissan Versa sedan is not involved. Recall Details

  • Mitsubishi Outlander (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013)

On certain vehicles, water may drain from the windshield cowl area and potentially collect in the area of the wiper motor breathing hole. If the wiper motor is not operating, water could potentially enter the wiper motor through the breathing hole. If this occurs, over time, it could result in corrosion and/or an electrical conduction failure, both of which could result in the wiper motor not operating. If the wiper motor were to stop operating, the windshield wipers would become inoperative, which could limit the driver’s visibility under certain operating conditions which may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will replace the wiper motor with an upgraded wiper motor that will prevent water intrusion. Recall Details

  • Lexus CT200H, ES300H, ES350, GX460, IS200, IS300, IS350, NX200T, NX300H, RC F, RC300, RC350, RX350, RX450H (2016, 2017)
  • Lexus GS350 (2016)
  • Lexus LX570 (2017)
  • Scion IM, TC (2016)
  • Toyota 4Runner, Avalon, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Corolla, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Prius, Prius C, Prius V, Rav4, Rav4 Hybrid, Sequoia, Sienna, Tacoma, Tundra, Yaris HB (2016, 2017)
  • Toyota CH-R (2018)
  • Toyota Corolla IM, Prius Prime (2017)
  • Toyota Venza (2016)

On certain vehicles, the electrical power cords of some dealer installed block heaters may have been improperly manufactured, causing the wires to contact each other, resulting in a short circuit. A short circuit could lead to a fire which would increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will cut the plug end from the block heater to disable its operation as an interim measure until an appropriate remedy is found. As an alternative the owners may choose to have the accessory engine block heater removed and receive a refund of the purchase price of the engine block heater. Recall Details

  • Toyota Camry HV (2016)

On certain vehicles, the tripod joint of the front drive shaft may have been improperly assembled. This could result in the snap ring that holds the tripod joint to dislocate, which could result in vibration and possible separation of the tripod joint, causing a loss of propulsion while driving and an inoperative transmission park system. The loss of propulsion could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, if the driver exits the vehicle without applying the parking brake, the vehicle could roll away with the transmission in Park, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will check the serial number of the drive shafts, and replace as necessary. Recall Details

  • Ford E350, F150 (2014)
  • Ford Escape (2014, 2015)
  • Lincoln MKC (2015)

On certain vehicles, improperly tempered bolts may have been used to install certain seats, seatbacks, seatbelt buckles, or seatbelt anchors due to a manufacturing issue. An improperly tempered bolt could fracture and compromise the structural integrity of the seat and/or seatbelt system’s performance in a sudden stop or crash, which could increase the risk of injury to vehicle occupants.

Correction: Dealers will inspect the bolts, and will remove and replace as necessary. Note: Only E-350 Extended Wagon models with 11, 12 or 15 passenger seating configurations are involved in this recall. Recall Details

  • Jaguar XJ (2010, 2011)

On certain vehicles, due to a Restraint Control Module (RCM) software update error, the airbags may not deploy as intended in the event of a frontal impact. Failure of the airbags to deploy during a collision that warrants airbag deployment could increase the risk of injury to the occupants.

Correction: Dealers will update the RCM with the latest software. Recall Details

  • Infiniti Q50 (2016, 2017, 2018)
  • Infinity Q60 (2017, 2018)
  • On certain vehicles, and incorrect fuel pressure map was used in the Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM) software as a result, the pressure regulator may fail to open to send fuel from the sub tank to the main tank. Under certain conditions, the fuel level in the main tank could be too low for the fuel pump to send fuel to the engine resulting in a loss of motive power, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

  • Correction: Dealers will update the software for the Fuel Pump Control Module. Recall Details

  • Chrysler Renegade (2017)

Certain vehicles may not comply with Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 101 – Location and Identification of Controls and Displays. These vehicles may have been built with an Instrument Panel Control (“IPC”) software error that may illuminate multiple malfunction indicator lights (“tell-tales”) when no malfunction or indicated vehicle condition is present. This issue may occur when the fuel indicator is reading “Low Range” fuel. Driving with a false tell-tale may mask a truly active tell-tale and result in the driver not being aware of actual malfunctions which could affect vehicle performance and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will update the IPC software. Recall Details
