The Passenger Vehicle Recalls for May, 2018 are as Follows

  • CHRYSLER 300 2018
  • DODGE CHALLENGER 2018
  • DODGE CHARGER 2018
  • DODGE DURANGO 2018
  • JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2018

On certain vehicles equipped with an 8-speed transmission, an incorrect park lock rod may have been installed during the transmission assembly process. • RAM 3500 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018

FCA Canada has determined that some Mopar gooseneck trailer hitch ball kits may not fully seat and lock into the truck hardware as intended. This can be caused by dirt and/or debris accumulation on top of the gooseneck ball mount, in the mounting hole and/or tolerance stack-up. If this occurs, the gooseneck ball may appear to be locked in place when it is not. If the gooseneck ball is not locked in place, under certain driving conditions it may detach from the truck. Affected parts are the Mopar 2 5/16‘’ Gooseneck Ball Kit part number 82213631 and Mopar 3” Gooseneck Ball Kit part number 82213632.

Correction: FCA Canada will conduct a voluntary field action on all affected parts. The remedy for this condition is currently under development. Note: This field action is not being conducted under the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Recall Details

On certain vehicles equipped with power windows, liquid can enter the power window switches causing corrosion and lead to a high electrical resistance. This could cause the switch to heat up, smoke or melt, which would increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will replace the driver’s side window switch with a switch that has additional protection against liquid intrusion. Recall Details

  • NISSAN VERSA (2009 2010 2011 2012)

On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury.

Correction: Dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag module. Note: Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. The recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk, and is expected to replace airbag inflators before their function would be affected. Additional note: The sedan models affected are from 2009 to 2011. Recall Details

This could result in reduced vehicle speed and poor acceleration, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage.

Correction: Dealers will replace the TCM with a reprogrammed unit. Recall Details

  • JEEP CHEROKEE 2019

The engine on one vehicle may have been built with a missing valve stem keeper. This may cause an engine failure, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage.

Correction: The dealer will inspect and repair the engine as required. Recall Details

  • GMC TERRAIN 2018

On certain vehicles, the Sensing Diagnostic Module (SDM), which controls the airbag system, may not shut down correctly when the vehicle is turned off. If this happens, the SDM may not work when the vehicle is started, making it unable to detect a crash or deploy the airbags, and increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Correction: Dealers will reprogram the SDM with updated software to correct this problem. Note: If the SDM is inoperative when the vehicle is started, the airbag warning lamp would illuminate, a “service restraint system” message would be displayed and warning chimes would sound. Recall Details

  • JEEP WRANGLER 2018

On certain vehicles, the steering intermediate shaft may not have been properly manufactured. If the shaft were to fail, the steering response could be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
