  • VOLKSWAGEN GOLF WAGON 2018
  • VOLKSWAGEN GTI 2018
  • VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT 2018

On certain vehicles, a problem with the brake system may cause gas bubbles to form in the brake fluid. This could cause a soft brake pedal feel and a reduction in brake performance, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will bleed the front or rear brakes as necessary. Note: In the interim, owners are advised to stop driving their vehicle until the defect has been repaired. Affected owners should call Volkswagen’s Roadside Assistance number at 1-800-411-6688. Recall Details

  • CHEVROLET EQUINOX 2018
  • CHEVROLET MALIBU 2018
  • GMC ACADIA 2018
  • GMC CANYON 2018
  • GMC TERRAIN 2018

On certain vehicles, a joint on the high-pressure fuel pump may have been improperly welded during the manufacturing process. Over time, this could cause the weld to crack and create a potential fuel leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could increase the risk of fire, causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction:  Dealers will replace the high-pressure fuel pump and high-pressure fuel pipe. Recall Details

  • CHEVROLET CORVETTE 2019

On certain Corvette ZR1 models, a fault in the Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM), which controls the airbag system, may make it unable to detect a crash or deploy the airbags. This creates an increased risk of injury in a crash.

Correction: Dealers will reprogram the SDM with updated software to correct this problem. Recall Details

  • VOLKSWAGEN ATLAS 2018
  • VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN 2018

On certain vehicles, the passenger frontal airbag may not unfold properly or could tear during deployment, which would increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant.

Correction: Dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag. Recall Details

  • BMW X3 2018

On certain vehicles equipped with the “Active Lane Keeping Assistant” option, sensors in the steering wheel may not adequately detect if a driver has their hands off the wheel. As a result, the vehicle may not provide proper warnings to the driver. This could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will inspect the steering wheel, and replace as necessary. Recall Details

  • KIA FORTE 2010 2011 2012 2013
  • KIA FORTE KOUP 2010 2011 2012 2013
  • KIA OPTIMA 2011 2012 2013
  • KIA SEDONA 2011 2012

On certain gasoline and hybrid engine vehicles, the circuits within the airbag control unit may become damaged. This could cause the airbags and seat belt pretensioners to not deploy in certain collisions where deployment is warranted, which could increase the risk of injury to vehicle occupants.

Correction: To be determined. Note: This recall does not affect the 2013 model year Optima Hybrid. Recall Details

  • FORD EXPEDITION 2018
  • FORD F150 2018
  • LINCOLN NAVIGATOR 2018

On certain vehicles, the high-pressure fuel pump may have been improperly manufactured and could fracture at its mounting flange. This could cause an oil or fuel leak which, in the presence of an ignition source, could increase the risk of fire, causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will replace the high-pressure fuel pump, high-pressure discharge tube and mounting bolts. Recall Details

  • CHEVROLET VOLT 2013

On certain vehicles, an error in a software update may prevent the batteries from properly balancing the voltage among individual cells. This may cause the vehicle to enter a reduced power mode. If a driver continues to operate a vehicle in reduced power mode, a loss of propulsion may occur, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will reprogram the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module 2. Recall Details

  • NISSAN VERSA 2010 2011 2012

On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury.

Correction: Dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag inflator. Note: Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. The recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk, and is expected to replace airbag inflators before their function would be affected. Additional Note: This campaign affects 2010-2012 Versa hatchback models and 2010-2011 Versa sedan models. The 2012 model year Nissan Versa sedan is not involved. Recall Details

  • FORD EDGE 2018

On certain vehicles equipped with the 2.0l engine coupled to a 6 speed automatic transmission, the torque converter could separate from the engine flex plate due to inadequate welds on the attachment studs. If this occurs, this would result in a sudden loss of motive power, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will replace the torque converter. Note: This is an expansion of recall 2017-332. Recall Details

  • VOLKSWAGEN ATLAS 2018

On certain vehicles, if a child restraint with a larger than recommended base is installed in the centre position of the second row bench seat, it may damage both the centre and adjacent outboard seatbelt buckles. In the event of a crash, a damaged seatbelt buckle can release unexpectedly, increasing the risk of injury.

Correction: Dealers will inspect the centre and left (outboard) second row seatbelt buckles, and replace as necessary. Additionally Volkswagen will provide an owner’s manual supplement addressing child safety and child restraints. Recall Details

  • CHEVROLET MALIBU 2016 2017

On certain vehicles that had the front passenger presence system (PPS) replaced, the replacement parts may have been incorrectly calibrated. This could cause the PPS not to properly identify certain children and small adults seated in the front passenger seat. If the vehicle was involved in a crash, this could cause the airbag to deploy when it should not, or could cause the airbag not to deploy when it should. Either of these outcomes could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant.

Correction: Dealers will replace the front PPS. Recall Details

  • CHRYSLER PACIFICA 2017 2018

Certain vehicles were built with a manual park release (MPR) cover that may not conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 114 – Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention. The MPR could be accessed without the aid of a tool, contrary to the requirements of the standard. Unintentional activation of the MPR could result in inadvertent vehicle movement, which could increase the risk of property damage and/or injury.

Correction: Dealers will replace the manual park release cover with one that requires the use of a tool for removal. Recall Details

  • DODGE JOURNEY 2018

Certain vehicles equipped with a rearview mirror backup camera display may fail to conform to the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 111 – Mirrors and Rear Visibility Systems. The cautionary message text in the rearview image display may temporarily reduce the field of view, which is contrary to the requirements of the standard. This could increase the risk of property damage or injury to nearby pedestrians in the event the driver does not check surroundings through traditional means

Correction: Dealers will replace the rear view mirror. Recall Details

  • DODGE JOURNEY 2018
  • RAM 1500 2018
  • RAM 2500 2018
  • RAM 3500 2018

Certain vehicles equipped with a rearview mirror backup camera display may fail to conform to the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 111 – Mirrors and Rear Visibility Systems. Some conditions may cause the system not to display a rearview image, which is contrary to the requirements of the standard. This could increase the risk of property damage or injury to nearby pedestrians in the event the driver does not check surroundings through traditional means.

Correction:  Dealers will replace the rear view mirror. Recall Details

  • MERCEDES-BENZ S CLASS 2018

On certain vehicles, the two nuts that secure the power bars inside the pre-fuse-box in the trunk might not have been installed. If the power bars are not secure, it could lead to a higher electrical resistance, increasing the risk of fire. Additionally, an intermittent contact between the power bars could lead to a loss of vehicle functions. The engine operation, the seat belt functions and the instrument cluster could be affected, increasing the risk of a crash and injuries.

Correction: Dealers will inspect the pre-fuse-box and replace if necessary. Recall Details

  • MAZDA CX-5 2018

On certain vehicles, the side curtain airbags may not unfold properly during deployment. This could increase the risk of injury to an occupant in the event of a side-impact or rollover crash.

Correction: Dealers will replace the side curtain airbags. Recall Details

  • AUDI A4 2006 2007 2008 2009

Additional Note: This recall supersedes recalls 2016-266 (Audi Recall 69O2), 2017-026 (Audi Recall 69P6) and 2018-022 (Audi Recall 69U1). Vehicles completed under the previous recalls require repair under this recall, as the previous recall remedy was an interim repair. Interim repair parts must be replaced with final repair parts. Additional Note: For the 2009 model year A4 and S4 models, only the Cabriolet versions are involved in this campaign. Recall Details

  • BMW X3 2018

Certain vehicles may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CVMSS) 108 – Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. The rear turn signal lamps on the tailgate of the vehicle may flash in amber, while the outboard rear turn signal lamps flash red, which is contrary to the requirements of the standard. This could result in following road users being confused by the turn signal lamps simultaneously flashing red and amber, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will inspect the rear turn signal lamps and replace them if necessary. Recall Details

  • LEXUS GS 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011

On certain vehicles equipped with a 3.5L V6 engine, the fuel pulsation dampers located in the fuel delivery pipe could develop a leak over time. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will replace the fuel delivery pipe with an updated part. Recall Details

  • AUDI A8 2013 2014 2015
  • AUDI S8 2013 2014

On certain vehicles, the fuel supply line for the high pressure fuel pump may become porous over time. This could cause a fuel smell or a fuel leak, which in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire causing property damage and/or personal injury.

Correction: Dealers will replace the fuel line. Recall Details

  • BMW X5 2018
  • BMW X6 2018

On certain vehicles, the front left lower control arm pivot bolt may not have been properly hardened during the manufacturing process. This could cause the front left lower control arm pivot bolt to break, which could affect vehicle handling and control, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will inspect the front left lower control arm and replace it as necessary. Recall Details

  • CADILLAC CT6 2016 2017 2018

Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 210.2 – Lower Universal Anchorage Systems for Restraint Systems and Booster Seats. A small amount of structural adhesive may have been inadvertently applied to the child seat anchorage bar during the assembly process. If this condition is present, the child seat would not be able to properly engage the lower universal anchorage system, which could increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Correction: Dealers will inspect the inboard child seat anchorage bars for adhesive and remove it as necessary. Note: Child seats should be installed using the vehicle’s rear seat belts in accordance with the vehicle owner’s manual and child seat manufacturer’s installation instructions until the recall is performed. Recall Details

  • MERCEDES-BENZ E CLASS 2017

Certain vehicles may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 108 – Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. Vehicles may have been assembled with headlamps that allow for horizontal adjustment, which is contrary to the requirements of the standard. This could reduce vehicle visibility, or could adversely affect the vision of oncoming drivers during low-light and night-time conditions, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will install sealing caps on the headlamps to seal the adjustment screws.  Recall Details
