On certain vehicles, a problem with the passenger occupant detection system can cause illumination of the airbag warning light and the airbag system may not properly classify the front passenger. In the event of a crash, the airbag system may not function properly, increasing the risk of injury to a front passenger.

Correction: Dealers will install a passenger occupant detection system repair kit. Recall Details

  • VOLKSWAGEN GTI 2018
  • VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT 2018

On certain vehicles, a problem with the brake system may cause gas bubbles to form in the brake fluid. This could cause a soft brake pedal feel and a reduction in brake performance, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will bleed the front or rear brakes as necessary. Note: In the interim, owners are advised to stop driving their vehicle until the defect has been repaired. Affected owners should call Volkswagen’s Roadside Assistance number at 1-800-411-6688. Recall Details

  • BMW X3 2018
  • BMW X4 2019

On certain vehicles, a problem with the rear brake system may cause gas bubbles to form in the brake fluid. This could cause a soft brake pedal feel and a reduction in brake performance, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction:  Dealers will bleed the rear brakes. Recall Details

  • MERCEDES-BENZ G CLASS 2017

On certain vehicles, the reverse gear speed limiter may not meet design specifications and could allow the vehicle to travel at more than 25 km/h in reverse. If a driver were to steer abruptly while travelling above this speed, the vehicle could become unstable and a vehicle rollover may occur, creating a risk of injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will update the engine control unit software to limit the speed while travelling in reverse. Recall Details

  • MERCEDES-BENZ C CLASS 2017 2018

On certain cabriolet models, the rear beltline body trim could separate from the vehicle. If this occurs while the vehicle is in motion, it could create a potential road hazard that could increase the risk of injury for other road users or bystanders.

Correction: Dealers will check the rear beltline trim and replace it, if necessary. Recall Details

  • BMW X3 2018

On certain vehicles equipped with the “Active Lane Keeping Assistant” option, sensors in the steering wheel may not adequately detect if a driver has their hands off the wheel. As a result, the vehicle may not provide proper warnings to the driver. This could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will inspect the steering wheel, and replace as necessary. Recall Details

  • VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2015 2016 2017 2018
  • VOLKSWAGEN GOLF WAGON 2015 2016 2017 2018

On certain vehicles, the park position switch may malfunction due to a problem with the electrical contacts. This could allow for removal of the ignition key without the shift lever being in the Park (P) position. If the parking brake is not applied, this could result in unintended vehicle movement, which could increase the risk of crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will install an additional park position switch and circuit board. Recall Details

  • BMW 5 SERIES 2018

On certain vehicles equipped with a diesel engine, a crankshaft sensor error may cause the engine to stall. This would result in a loss of motive power, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will replace the crankshaft sensor. Note: This condition would result in the illumination of the check engine warning lamp and an “engine malfunction” message appearing in the instrument cluster. Recall Details

  • VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN 2018

On certain vehicles, the LED module for the panoramic sunroof ambient light bar may overheat, increasing the risk of a fire causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will install aluminum tape around the panoramic sunroof LED module to eliminate the fire risk if the module overheats. Recall Details

  • FORD ESCAPE 2013 2014
  • FORD FUSION 2013 2014 2015 2016

On certain vehicles, the bushing that attaches the shift cable to the transmission may degrade over time and could detach. This could allow the transmission to be in a gear state different than the gear shift position selected by the driver. This condition could also allow the driver to move the shifter to Park and remove the ignition key while the transmission gear may not be in Park. If the parking brake is not applied, this could result in unintended vehicle movement, which would increase the risk of crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will replace the shifter cable bushing. Recall Details

  • BMW 5 SERIES 2018

On certain BMW M5 models, the fuel level sensor may contact an in-tank fuel line, causing the fuel gauge to display an incorrect fuel level. This may create a situation where the vehicle could run out of fuel while the gauge still displays that there is fuel remaining. As a result, the engine could stall without warning and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will secure the fuel line so that it does not contact the fuel level sensor. Recall Details

  • CHRYSLER PACIFICA 2018

Certain vehicles may have been built with a misassembled front half-shaft assembly. This could cause the axle shaft to disengage, which could result in a loss of motive power and/or the potential for a vehicle roll-away when parked, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will inspect and replace the left and/or right front half-shaft assemblies if necessary. Note: This campaign does not affect plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) models. Recall Details

  • CHRYSLER 300 2014 2015 2016
  • DODGE CHALLENGER 2014 2015 2016 2018

If this occurs and the driver does not apply the brakes or shift the transmission to neutral, the vehicle could maintain speed or accelerate without warning, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will inspect the PCM software and perform an update as necessary. Note: In the interim, owners are advised not to use the cruise control until the vehicle is repaired. This is a voluntary recall that is not being conducted under the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act, as these aftermarket products were not regulated by the Act. Recall Details

  • JEEP CHEROKEE 2018

Certain vehicles equipped with all-wheel drive may have been built with an improperly manufactured right front half-shaft bearing. This could cause the half-shaft to fail, which could result in a loss of motive power or a vehicle roll-away, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will replace the right front half-shaft assembly. Recall Details

  • DODGE JOURNEY 2018

Certain vehicles equipped with a rearview mirror backup camera display may fail to conform to the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 111 – Mirrors and Rear Visibility Systems. The cautionary message text in the rearview image display may temporarily reduce the field of view, which is contrary to the requirements of the standard. This could increase the risk of property damage or injury to nearby pedestrians in the event the driver does not check surroundings through traditional means

Correction: Dealers will replace the rear view mirror. Recall Details

  • RAM 1500 2015 2016 2017

Correction: Dealers will modify the locking mechanism. Recall Details
