  • Ford Edge (2017)

Certain vehicles equipped with a panoramic sunroof may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 214 – Side Door Strength. The windshield header portion of the body’s sheet metal may be missing welds. This could result in reduced lateral structural integrity and may fail to meet the requirements of the standard, which could increase the risk of injury in a side-impact crash. Correction: Dealers will repair the windshield header. Recall Details

  • Ford Fusion (2013, 2014)
  • Ford Escape & Ford Fiesta (2014)
  • Ford Transit Connect (2014, 2015)

On certain vehicles equipped with 1.6L GTDI engines, low coolant level could lead to localized overheating of the cylinder head, which could cause a fire. This could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will install a coolant level sensor and supporting hardware and software.

Note: Until repair parts are available, owners should regularly check engine coolant level and top up as necessary. Also note for Fiesta, only the ST model vehicles are affected. Recall Details

  • Ford Fiesta (2014)
  • Ford Fusion (2013 2014)
  • Lincoln MKZ (2013 2014)

On certain vehicles, the door latches may have a broken pawl spring tab. This could result in the door not latching correctly. As a result, doors which appear to be latched could unlatch while driving. This could increase the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant seated next to the door, or result in damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace all four door latches with a more robust part. Note: This is an expansion of recall 2015-175. Recall Details

  • Subaru Impreza (2017)

On certain vehicles, due to software programming within the engine control unit, the operating threshold of the radiator fan used to cool the fuel temperature is not set low enough for the fan to operate at an appropriate temperature when using winter blend fuels. This could result in the fuel vaporizing prematurely under certain outside temperatures and driving conditions, which could cause a decrease in fuel pressure. If this occurs, the engine may stall in certain circumstances while the vehicle is in motion, including low-speed, stop-and-go traffic, or at a stop and may not be able to be restarted immediately, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the engine control unit with new software. Recall Details

  • Honda Accord (2003)

On certain two-door vehicles equipped with four-cylinder engines that had the passenger’s frontal airbag replaced in the past, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high-temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger side frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect the passenger’s frontal airbag module, and will replace it if necessary. Note: Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. The recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk and is expected to replace airbag inflators before their function would be affected. Recall Details

  • BMW Mini Clubman (2016, 2017)

Certain vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of CMVSS 108 – Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. The bumper embedded rear inner brake lights turn off when the turn signal light is applied, contrary to requirements of the standard. This could be confusing to a road user located behind the vehicle during simultaneous braking and signaling, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the vehicle to correct the non-compliance. Recall Details

Certain vehicles equipped with 6.2L gasoline engines and 6R100 transmissions may fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 102 – Transmission Control Functions and CMVSS 114 – Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention. The park rod actuating plate may have been damaged during manufacturing, which could inhibit transmission parking pawl engagement. If the operator were to move the shift lever to park, the transmission may not achieve mechanical park, which if the parking brake is not applied, could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will inspect the park rod actuating plate and replace as necessary. Note: In the interim, owners are advised to use the parking brake whenever the transmission shift lever is in the Park position until the vehicle is repaired. Recall Details

  • Hyundai Elantra (2017)

On certain vehicles, a connection at the electric power steering (EPS) motor may have been damaged at time of assembly. This could lead to a loss of the steering assist. A loss of power steering assist could unexpectedly increase steering effort which would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the EPS motor. Recall Details

  • Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, Sonata (2013, 2014)

On certain vehicles equipped with 2.0L and 2.4L engines, the engine may contain residual metallic debris from factory machining operations. If debris is present, it could potentially restrict oil flow to the main bearings and rod bearings and could lead to premature wear. If the vehicle continues to be driven with worn bearings, the bearings could fail, which could cause an engine stall while the vehicle is in motion, resulting in loss of motive power which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Worn bearings could also result in the illumination of the oil pressure lamp in the instrument cluster. Correction: Dealers will inspect, and if necessary, replace the engine sub-assembly. Recall Details

  • Kia Sportage, Optima (2011, 2012, 2013)
  • Kia Sorrento (2012, 2013, 2014)

General Motors Canada is conducting a voluntary Safety Improvement Program involving driver and passenger airbag inflators in certain vehicles that were originally sold or ever registered in certain high-humidity areas of the United States equipped with Takata airbags. Recall Details

  • Dodge Sprinter (2007, 2008, 2009)

On certain vehicles, the dimensions of some components in certain door latch mechanisms may be out of specification and may not securely latch in high-temperature conditions. If this occurs and a door mechanism does not securely latch, the door could inadvertently open while the vehicle is in motion, which could increase the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant seated next to the door, or result in damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the affected door latches with countermeasure units. Recall Details

  • Merceded-Benz C Class, GLK Class (2013)

On certain vehicles, the steering coupling bolt connection may have been incorrectly torqued. The vibrations during vehicle operation could allow the nut to loosen and come off the retaining bolt. This could lead to a separation of the steering coupling from the steering shaft causing the vehicle to lose the ability to steer which would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect and torque the steering coupling bolt as necessary. Recall Details

  • Merceded-Benz C Class, GLC Class, S Class (2017)

Certain vehicles may have been equipped with front seatbelt pre-tensioner igniters that do not meet specifications. These conditions could increase the risk of injury to the occupants in the event of a crash. Correction: Dealers will update the affected control units. Recall Details

  • Mercedes-Benz R Class (2013)

On certain vehicles equipped with 6-cylinder diesel engines, the engine control unit may misinterpret a signal in the event of a crash. In the event of a crash, the airbag control unit transmits a signal via the CAN bus network to the engine control unit in order to shut off the engine and fuel pump. Should a crash result in damage that affects the CAN bus, the engine and fuel pump may not be automatically switched off. If a fuel line or hose were also damaged in the crash, fuel leakage might occur, which in the presence of an ignition source, could lead to a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the engine control unit with new software. Recall Details

  • Mercedes-Benz E Class (2017)

Certain vehicles may not comply with Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS 101) – Controls and Displays. These vehicles may have an incorrect software version for the widescreen instrument cluster. This could result in the cluster not displaying any content upon vehicle start or a display reset may occur while driving, contrary to the requirements of the standard. Correction: Dealers will update the instrument cluster software. Recall Details

  • Mercedes-Benz Metris (2016)

Certain vehicles may have been equipped with seat belt pretensioner igniters that do not meet specifications. Correction: Correction: Dealers will replace the affected passenger frontal airbag, knee airbag or window airbag. Recall Details

  • Mercedes-Benz E Class, GLE Class, GLE Coupe, GLS Class (2016, 2017)

On certain vehicles, the electric power steering connector may not be properly sealed against water entry. This could allow moisture to enter the power steering control unit which could interrupt the signal and cause the electric steering assist to deactivate. A loss of power steering assist could unexpectedly increase steering effort which would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction dealers will replace the connector and if necessary, replace the steering rack. Recall Details

  • Mercedes-Benz G Class (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016)

On certain vehicles, the front passenger airbag could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment due to a potential airflow impairment in the inflator module. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will replace the front passenger airbag inflator. Recall Details
